Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinol) is a natural antioxidant synthesized by the body, which is found in many foods naturally, but is also available as a supplement. Co-enzymes support enzymes in their various biochemical functions. Coenzyme Q10 is an essential part in the chain of chemical reactions that generate energy within cells for metabolism. Every cell of the body has Q10 in it, but in organs with higher energy requirements (such as the kidneys, liver and heart) are higher concentrations. Many medical studies indicate that using a supplement of Co-enzyme Q10 may be beneficial. Most benefits are derived from the crucial role that Coenzyme Q10 plays in oxygen consumption and production of energy, especially in the heart muscle cells.
How do you get enough Coenzyme Q10 from food?
Although the body is able to produce Coenzyme Q10, it is recommended to add foods high in Coenzyme Q10 levels in the diet and/ or taking a daily supplement.
What are the signs of a deficiency?
Studies have shown that significantly decreased Co-enzyme Q10 levels have been associated with a wide variety of diseases in animals and humans, one of which is fatigue. Since this enzyme is found in high concentration in the cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells), deficiency is also associated with cardiovascular problems such as angina, arrhythmia, heart failure and hypertension. Problems with blood sugar regulation, gum disease and stomach ulcers are also associated with Coenzyme Q10 deficiency. Those who take statins to lower cholesterol have a particular risk to a shortage, because statins lower cholesterol, but they can also block the synthesis of Coenzyme Q10 in the body. Low Coenzyme Q10 levels in patients who take statins may contribute to the common side effects of this treatment, such as fatigue and aching joints and muscles.

Take 1-2 capsules a day with water, preferably at night.
